Senior Backend Engineer

About the role

The backend is where products either earn their reliability or quietly lose it. As Senior Backend Engineer at 9minds you will own the contracts our products live and die by — APIs, data models, durable storage, background work, and the observability that lets a small team operate them with confidence at 3 am.

What you will do

• Design APIs and data models that are obvious to the next person who touches them
• Build the kind of background processing and queuing infrastructure that does not lose work
• Pair with frontend and ML teammates to ship features end to end
• Make production legible — tracing, structured logs, useful errors, fast recovery
• Push back on complexity that does not earn its keep

What we are looking for

• Several years building production backends that other engineers extended after you
• Comfort with relational thinking, schema design, and the failure modes of distributed systems
• A test discipline that means deployments rarely surprise you
• Bias toward boring, type-safe technology you can hand off
• Care about the developer experience of the people who come after you
